Kia ora e te whānau,
At Amesbury School, we strongly believe that a thriving school community is built on the collaboration and support of our wonderful parents and whānau. Getting involved with the school is a fantastic way to support our students, give back to the community, and build connections with other families.
There are many ways you can get involved—whether you have just a little time to spare or can commit regularly, every contribution makes a difference!
Help with Reading Support – We are looking for volunteers to provide additional reading support for students who need a little extra practice. If you can help, please contact Jenny King at jenny@amesbury.school.nz.
Library Assistance – Love books? Help process new books, keep the library shelves tidy, and return books to the system. If you're interested, contact Kirat at kirat@amesbury.school.nz.
Office Assistance – Pizza Lunch Orders – Every Thursday, we need a helping hand for about 35 minutes to put pizza lunch orders into bags. If you can assist, contact Rachel in the office at office@amesbury.school.nz.
Garden to Table Programme – On Tuesday mornings, we need support in the kitchen with cooking and food prep, as well as in the garden growing herbs and veggies. Come and be a part of this hands-on learning experience!
Māori and Pacific whānau group: If your tamariki (children) identify as Māori or Pasifika, our Māori and Pacific whānau group meets once a term to connect with other families and look at ways to ensure our Māori and Pacific ākonga are being well supported. Look out for the invitation that will be sent to you a little later this term. To find out more about this, please contact Amaria Picard - amaria@amesbury.school.nz
Scholastic Book Club Orders – Once each term, we need help sorting and processing book orders. If you can lend a hand, contact Kirat at kirat@amesbury.school.nz.
Support with School Trips & Sports Events – We often need extra hands for trips and sporting events. Keep an eye on notices for upcoming opportunities to help.
Sports Coaching – Do you have a passion for coaching? Later in the year, we’ll be looking for netball and miniball (basketball) coaches. Stay tuned for notices in our digest if you’d like to be involved. To know more about sports coaching, contact our school teams coordinator, Amelia Prendeville - amelia@amesbury.school.nz
Join the School Board – Be part of our school's governance! Our triennial elections will be held in September this year. More information will be shared closer to the time.To find out more about being on the school board, contact our board presiding member, Anna Whitehead at bot@amesbury.school.nz
For some of these opportunities, timing is flexible, and you can choose to help right after drop-off in the morning or just before pick-up in the afternoon to make it more convenient.
We appreciate every bit of support from our community—together, we can create the best possible learning environment for our tamariki.
Ngā mihi nui,
The Amesbury School Team
