Our kura is part of Te Kāhui Ako o Tarikākā. The 10 schools across our cluster form a cohesive geographical community stretching up the northern corridor of suburbs from Crofton Downs School through Ngaio, Khandallah, Johnsonville and Churton Park to Amesbury School.

As a rōpū, we have continually asked ourselves the question: what is it that we can do better together than we can do on our own? The purpose of becoming a Kāhui Ako is for us to be able to be better together for our students, our communities, our teachers, for the wider education community and the wider community, in general. Our mahi as a kāhui is based around our four achievement challenges:

We believe that working together opens up worlds of opportunities; in particular, it will enable expertise to be shared, learnings to be explored and for courage to be lent as we go on this potentially challenging journey together.

Our vision is that through teachers who are well equipped, innovative, creative and activated, we will offer equitable, inclusive learning programmes to students that meet their needs, interests and desires and that equip them for their future. Our learners will feel a strong sense of connection, community and belonging within a bi-cultural Aotearoa. They will feel individually and culturally valued and understood by those around them. Through a focus on improving and sustaining students’ wellbeing, students will develop the resilience they require to challenge themselves, take risks in their learning and to continually grow and develop. Students will stand more confidently in the world and will feel empowered to take action to make the world a better place for themselves, the world itself and others.
