I am very excited to be joining the Amesbury School team as Associate Principal. I bring with me over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience, gaining this from a variety of different roles in schools, both in Wellington and on the Kapiti Coast.
In 2019 I took time out from fulltime teaching to pursue my passion of supporting others to develop their capabilities as teachers and leaders. This enabled me to be able to facilitate leadership development programmes, design and facilitate professional development solutions for educators, and coach and mentor people to develop their confidence and skills. I have also managed, amongst others things, to fit in some numeracy and literacy teaching with adults and programme development work in the disability sector.
I have loved this work, and learnt so much along the way too, but there is nothing quite the same as working in a school, where the purpose of why you do what you do, is right in front of you every day, reminding you, that as educators, we are working to provide the best for the students. So I am delighted to be “back at school” and a part of the Amesbury Team.
When I am not working, you will find me on the Kapiti Coast, where I live with my husband and two daughters. Our weekends are filled with walks on the beach with the dog, catch ups with family and friends, sport and music for the girls, and whatever other adventures catch our interest.
I will be commuting from Kapiti, but Amesbury holds a certain familiarity, as I grew up in Wellington, built my first house in Grenada Village, and watched many of the houses being built in Churton Park from across the motorway. I have worked at several of the local schools, so while there is so much for me yet to learn about the Amesbury way, many students and families to meet, I already feel a sense of connection, and look forward to strengthening this as I get to know everyone.
