What's on this week?

Moving to Phase 3 in our response to Omicron

In line with New Zealand moving to Phase 3 of Red Level of the Covid-19 Protection Framework, Amesbury has made some changes to its approach.

Please be familiar with how this will operate at school by carefully reading Urs's article.

St. John's First Aid Training

This week St. John's will be at Amesbury School to deliver an age-appropriate first aid training programme to all of our students.

For the details of the programme including what your child/ren will be taught can be found in Eilis's article.

A reminder that, although the programme is free to schools, St. John's is subsidising the programme and it would be greatly appreciated if we could help reduce this and enable St. John's to provide additional programmes within the community. To do our part, we ask for our tamariki to bring along a gold coin donation this Wednesday morning (2 March) which will be given to St. John's on Friday.

Walking School Bus

With Movin' March almost upon us this is an opportune time to revive the 'Walking School Bus'.

If you want to know a little more about it please read Natalie's notice and contact her for further information or to offer assistance (natalie@amesbury.school.nz).

Achievements Outside of School

We know that a number of students gain achievements outside of school in various activities like sport, music, and for clubs that they are members of, etc. We would, as the Amesbury whānau, like to hear about and celebrate these achievements with you.

If your child/ren have something that they would like to share (along with some photos, if you like), please email the information to natalie@amesbury.school.nz. Thank you.

Scholastic's Book Club

Issue 1, 2022 of Scholastic's Book Club is now available for online ordering. Please read Kirat's article which explains how to place an order (which is different to the previous method).

The closing date is Friday the 25th of March 2022.

Fleece Found

Rachel would like the owner of this fleece to come and claim it. It has been at the office since last year and she has discovered a toy in the pocket which the owner is sure to recognise.

Circus show for kids with a mental health message

I’m a local performing artist and entertainer based in Wellington. I’m presenting a children’s theatre show as part of this year’s New Zealand Fringe Festival, and I think it would be perfect for families at Amesbury School.

The show is called 'Tennis' and it follows the lovable but disaster-prone Patrick Federer (the fictional younger brother of tennis champ Roger Federer) as he bumbles through a big competition.

Despite his challenges, Patrick emphasises the importance of being yourself and persevering to achieve your goals – even when other people are yet to see your true potential.

This show brings grandslam tennis tricks, circus stunts and all-ages comedy – so it’s perfect for tamariki and rangatahi of all ages, plus their parents, caregivers or wider whānau.

At the Red traffic light setting, The NZ Fringe Festival has reduced capacity and extra safety precautions in place, so it’s best to book your courtside ticket now to avoid disappointment.

The show will be presented 6.00pm every day from Tuesday 1 March to Saturday 5 March at the Gryphon Theatre in Wellington. Tickets here: https://fringe.co.nz/show/tennis.
