A reminder, if you have not booked already, that we are holding our first set of student conferences for 2023 this week - Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th April.

To find out how it is operating, the times available for bookings, who to book with, how to book, and all of the other crucial information please refer to the HERO post that Urs sent out previously (14 March).

Conference bookings will be closed at 8am on Monday morning (3 April).

If you have any further questions regarding student conferences, please don't hesitate to contact your child's whānau teacher.

Learning Celebration - 1.50-3pm Wednesday 5 April

Our whole school Term 1 Learning Celebration is coming up in the afternoon of Wednesday Week 10 (5th April) at 1:50pm so please note it in your calendars. Please note that the start time is slightly different from originally planned and previously advised.

This term we have been exploring what it means to: Live as our best selves: ‘Who am I and what makes me who I am?’

The learning celebration will begin simultaneously in all hubs, and whānau are invited to walk through and experience learning from all of our tamariki across the school. Students will have their creations set up throughout the spaces and look forward to sharing with whānau, neighbours, and friends throughout the afternoon. Visitors can expect to see a variety of projects including: portraits, weaving, kiwiana artwork, family trees, poetry, other written prose and more.

  • Koru students will be in Kōwhai (yellow), Karaka (orange) and Kakariki (green).
  • Harakeke will have their presentation displayed in Māwhero and Kikorangi.
  • Everything for Pōhutukawa Hub will be displayed in the hall.

Due to the numbers of whānau coming, parents and whānau do not need to sign in at the office. Given this is occurring in the last block of the day, parents are welcome to take their child home after they have finished at their learning celebration. Please make sure that you sign out your child with a teacher in the hub: Sonali in Koru, Jemima in Harakeke, and Onaitta in Pōhutukawa, so that we know you have collected your child early.

We are looking forward to welcoming parents onsite, and students are excited to share their learning.

Amesbury Awesomeness - 2.15-2.45pm Thursday 6 April

This term's Amesbury Awards will be held on the last day of term Thursday 6 April - commencing at 2.15pm.

Whānau are invited along to find out, along with the rest of us, who this term's recipients are.

For those unable to attend we will share the names of the recipients with the school community in a future article.

Northern Zone Football Tournament

The Northern Zone Football Tournament was held on 28 March and a great time was had by all.

Have a look at the article and the awesome skills on display in the photos.

End of Term Sale

All non uniform items: two for $8 and three for $10 from a range of black long sleeve tops, shorts, skorts, pants in many sizes.

 Lost and Found

All lost property will be displayed by the office next week. Any items not claimed by the end of term will be donated to a charity store.

Amesbury Cross Country - Thursday 27 April

Our annual school Cross Country event will take place in the first week of Term 2.

Tamariki will be lacing up their shoes and toeing the line on Thursday 27th April. The distances are as follows:

  • Y1-2 = 1 lap approx. 500m,
  • Y3-4 = 2 laps approx. 1000m, and
  • Y5-6 = 3 laps approx. 1500m

The first race is expected to start at 11:10 am.

There will be an early morning tea on this day to allow for the tamariki to eat and change their clothes. We ask for all tamariki to have suitable footwear and a change of clothes for this day in case they get wet and muddy.

The Cross Country event will still go ahead even if it's wet. If the health and safety of our tamariki is in doubt due to extreme weather conditions the postponement date of Tuesday 2nd May will be used instead.

We welcome supporters and whānau to come on site and support our budding athletes.

If you would be help and be a marshal on the track please let me know via email at eilis@amesbury.school.nz.
