St Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival - organised by Amesbury School
The St Brigid's Annual Kapa Haka Festival is being organised this year by Amesbury and will be held at Onslow College given the large numbers that will be participating.
Apart from general assistance with setting up etc., we are using it as an opportunity to fundraise for the Pou (pillars) in the new build. Please read about this in the article that Amaria has prepared and please fill out this form, signalling how you can help.
Made-to-order products with your child's artwork on them
Students have been very busy creating their own artwork that can be printed onto calendars, cards, diaries, mouse mats and sketch pads (spiral bound A5 notebook with blank pages) that are available for you to buy.
Your tamariki will have brought home a named order code form that will have a unique code that is linked to their art. Please use this to order online via the KidsArtWorks website. (Orders cannot be made via the school by cash or on the school account).
Final orders close at midday Monday 15th August and, sorry, no late orders can be accepted.
Purchased items will be delivered to school and given to students to bring home as soon as they are available.
For all of the detailed information please read Rachel's article. If you have any questions please email Rachel (office@amesbury.school.nz).

Term 2 Highlights in Koru
Do you want to read about and see what the Koru tamariki were up to last term? See Amaria's article for all the details.
Spoiler alert: They learnt heaps and enjoyed themselves doing it. There's even some added extra spice!
What have we been up to in Pōhutukawa Hub recently?
While Pōhutukawa Hub don't have anything extra spicy to report, they sure have been super busy and totally engaged.
They have a great opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities - being our senior leaders - and they make the most of it.
Read and see all about it for yourselves in Kalesha's report.
Clothing backup - for all Students
It's not getting any drier so we have plenty of puddles and mud.
Please pack a spare set of shorts/track pants/leggings, and underpants in your child's school bag (for all ages) with a plastic bag to put the wet clothes in, and let your child know that they are there for them to get changed into.
For some children it can be quite embarrassing or upsetting when they unexpectedly become wet or dirty (particularly if there isn't anything for them to change into) or they don't like what is available. We have limited space to hold a selection of spares so are not always able to cater for all 'requests' and sizes (particularly size 8 plus).
Red Nose Week at Amesbury Kelly Club
This week (8-12 August) Amesbury Kelly Club will be fundraising for Cure Kids NZ. We have a week jam packed full of fun activities.
On Tuesday the 9th we will be having a bake sale out the front of Amesbury school, and it is open to EVERYONE! Please bring some money and help support an amazing cause
Why Red Nose Day? Red Nose Day is Cure Kids' biggest annual appeal. Their purpose is to fund 'big research for little lives.' They focus on funding amazing researchers who are coming up with ways to save, extend and improve the lives of kids who are living with serious health conditions. Cure Kids-funded researchers live right here in NZ, and they're developing clever ways to help kids not just in our country, but across the whole world! With Red Nose Day being their biggest appeal, it's their chance to raise as much money as possible to continue this important work.
Wellington Samaritans' Annual Appeal - Online
The Wellington Samaritans’ Annual Street Appeal has been cancelled for the second year in a row because of Covid. The cancellation will hit us hard financially as it is our largest fundraiser of the year. Samaritans does not receive Government funding, and we had a goal of raising $20,000 from the Appeal.
We have made the challenging decision to hold an Online Appeal. The Appeal will be held on the 12th and 13th of August 2022
The mission of Samaritans is to reduce deaths by suicide. We are an iconic community organisation helping Kiwis from all over New Zealand with their mental health. Every year we answer up to 20,000 calls, and many of our callers express suicidal thoughts. Covid 19 has increased people’s anxieties and hardships, and every call we answer provides the opportunity to make a significant difference in someone’s life.
Donations fund our core mahi of providing a helpline free of charge to anyone who needs a listening ear.
