Kia ora koutou,

For our camp this year, Harakeke are staying overnight at Wellington Zoo. This will be taking place in Week 1 of Term 4. Students that opt into staying overnight will either be staying on Wednesday 11th October or Thursday 12th October. Which date your child will be staying overnight on will be provided closer to the time.

On Wednesday 11th October - normal school day. All students come to school, and go home, as normal.

Group 1 - stay overnight on Wednesday 11th October. Children have dinner prior to coming and parents drop their child off at the Zoo at 7pm. We will do a night tour, and sleep in the Archibald Centre/Living Room at the Zoo. In the morning, we will do a morning tour, and have breakfast provided by the zoo. Group 1 will then spend the day at the zoo, having a workshop run by zoo staff, and exploring the zoo. Then, they will return back to school via bus in time for normal pick up at 3pm. Morning Tea/Lunch will be provided for only Group 1 on Thursday.

On Thursday 12th October - during the day. Students in Group 2 and students not staying over meet at school as normal. Students will travel to Wellington Zoo by bus, and return back to school in time for normal pick up at 3pm. Students in Group 2 and students not staying overnight will need to bring their own packed lunch (no pizza orders available for Harakeke on this day).

Group 2 - stay overnight on Thursday 12th October. Children have dinner prior to coming and parents drop their child off at the Zoo at 7pm. We will do a night tour, and sleep in the Archibald Centre/Living Room at the Zoo. In the morning, we will do a morning tour, and have breakfast provided by the zoo. Then, we will bus back to school at 10am to join the rest of the hub back at school. Parents will pick up their child as normal from school at 3pm. Morning Tea/Lunch will be provided for only Group 2 on Friday.

The costs of this trip will be finalised once we get the final numbers of tamariki and this will be once all consent forms have been filled out. The cost of the camp will come out via invoices added to your child’s Kindo account once all costs have been finalised.

Please fill out the consent form here by Friday 11th of August - even if your child is not staying over. It is vital we get all consents filled out by this date, so we can get accurate costs for camp.

Any questions please contact your child’s whānau teacher.

Ngā mihi nui,
