Just a reminder that at 6.15am on Monday 7 August we will have the blessing for the new building that we have all waited so long for.

Please meet in front of the new block by 6.10am.

Hopefully, everyone that is wishing to attend has already completed the form so that we were able to organise the right amount of kai to be shared following the blessing.

Everything should be completed by 7.15am so that you can get on with your normal day.

A Case of Hand, Foot and Mouth

As advised earlier, we have been notified of a case of Hand, Foot and Mouth in Koru.

Please check whether your tamariki have any symptoms and follow the advise provided by the Ministry of Health.

If your child has Foot, Hand & Mouth please keep them home from school until blisters have dried.

HERO: Tips and Tricks

For anyone who is a little unsure about how to access the mine of information that HERO - our Student Management System - has to offer please have a read through this item. It contains links to various "how to" docs.

If there are more areas of HERO that a "how to" doc would assist with please contact Demelza (demelza@amesbury.school.nz).

Cultural Festival

We are holding a Cultural Festival in Term 4 and Gina is looking for your expertise.

Please have a read through Gina's article to see what assistance you can provide. If you are able and willing please see Gina or email her (gina@amesbury.school.nz).

Celebrating our Ākonga

Kirat is compiling a list of out-of-school achievements that have occurred over the last few months and she would like for you to provide her with this information so that we can share it with the Amesbury Community.

If you and your tamariki have something that they would like to share, preferably with some photos, please email kirat@amesbury.school.nz with the information by 15th September 2023.

Senior Swimming Sports

Our Senior Swimming Sports were held recently. As well as some sizzling performances there was a lot of fun had by all.

For a summary of the day and some photos of all the action check out Onaitta's report of what went on.

Contagious/communicable illnesses

All contagious/communicable illnesses must be advised to the office as this helps us to track any trends, advise our school community to be on the lookout, and to ensure immediate notification to the parents of students who have lowered immune systems due to the treatment of serious medical conditions.

In particular, Chicken Pox and Measles can have serious implications for these students, so the sooner the families are informed of infectious exposure, the sooner they can get the appropriate treatment to prevent potentially serious complications. In addition to these, and Covid, this sheet has a list of other conditions that we need to know about.

Clothing backup: ** ALL STUDENTS **

Please pack a spare set of shorts/track pants/leggings, and underpants in the school bag for your child/children with a plastic bag to put the soiled/wet clothes in, and let your child know that they are there for them to get changed into if they have an accident, or now that it's winter, get wet/muddy at school.

For some children it can be quite embarrassing or upsetting when they unexpectedly become wet or dirty (particularly if there isn't anything for them to change into) or they don't like what is available. We have limited space that we hold a very small selection of spares so are not able to cater for 'requests' and all sizes.

If there isn't anything for students to change into, we will call and ask for clothes to be brought to school.

Please Reply: Important information needed

Thank you to all that have responded. If you haven't replied yet, please find the email (sent to the first primary caregiver) that will have an attached student profile and check that the information for your child(ren) is up-to-date. You can either:

  • Add updates in the 'additions and amendments' column on the document (do not alter existing information), save and send the form back OR
  • Email Rachel office@amesbury.school.nz with any changes

This information is very important because it is needed for communication with you, the care and safety of your tamariki, and in the event of an emergency. Please ensure we have or know about;

  • Medical conditions, allergies, medications, dietary (e.g. vegetarian, foods not permitted)
  • All phone numbers listed are active and address details are correct
  • At least 2 emergency contacts (not parents) that would be able to collect your child from school if you're not able to in a civil emergency evacuation situation - someone local/within walking distance to school (neighbour, friend, family) who could get here quickly if the need arises
