Having been preparing for this endurance event for some time now, the tamariki will soon be lacing up their shoes and toeing the line for the Amesbury Cross Country event. The races will take place on Thursday 27th April (Week 1) and whānau are welcome to come along and support our athletes.

The first race will commence at around 11:10am following an early morning tea. The distances are as follows:

  • Y1-2 = 1 lap approx. 500m,

  • Y3-4 = 2 laps approx. 1000m, and
  • Y5-6 = 3 laps approx. 1500m

Order of races

  • Year 6 Girls
  • Year 6 Boys
  • Year 5 Girls
  • Year 5 Boys
  • Year 4 Girls
  • Year 4 Boys
  • Year 3 Girls
  • Year 3 Boys
  • Year 2 Girls
  • Year 2 Boys
  • Year 0 & 1 Girls
  • Year 0 & 1 Boys

We ask for all tamariki to have suitable footwear and a change of clothes to change into afterwards. It is very likely that the race course will be wet and muddy so we ask for dry, clean clothes for afterwards.

Traditionally a winter sport, please know that the Cross Country event will go ahead even if it's wet underfoot. If there is an extreme weather forecast for the day, the postponement date of Tuesday 2nd May will be used instead.

If you would like to help and marshal on the track please let me know via email at eilis@amesbury.school.nz.

Kind regards,

Eilís
