Parent Connection and Involvement 2023
We are continually looking for the most effective ways to connect with our school community and ensure that people can be involved with school life.
Please read through Urs' article which covers different opportunities for parents to be involved and feedback - including focus groups, volunteering and community gatherings.
School Donations Information 2023
As in previous years we are asking parents to make voluntary contributions to the running costs of the school. These are all tax deductible.
Please read through this article to see why donations are asked for and what they will be used for.
Paid Union Meetings for Teachers in Term 1 2023
With teachers and principals renegotiating their Collective Agreements, there will be paid union meetings in Term 1 within school time on 27 & 28 February.
Learning will continue as usual during these times, albeit with leaders joining the Hubs for the learning programmes.

Co-curricular Lessons
All students who are continuing with their co-curricular lessons in Term 1 have already secured their places by paying their invoices. Particularly with last year's Year 6s having left we have spaces available in all of our lessons, although some are limited and we have a first come - first served policy.
If you know nothing about the lessons please read the Co-curricular Lessons article and also our webpage. Please email John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) if you have any questions or you wish to sign your child up. It really is as easy as that.
Lunch Orders
Lunch Orders are back for 2023 - check out the menus and ordering systems HERE. If you order lunch through LunchOnline for a Wednesday or Friday, please check your account is updated with your child's Hub for 2023 (as this doesn't happen automatically).
When you're logged into your LunchOnline account select "members" and select the hub name. This helps us to ensure lunch orders are delivered directly to a student's hub, and not mistakenly delivered elsewhere in school. Thanks heaps!
Scholastic's Book Club
Issue 1, 2023 of Scholastic's Book Club is now available for online ordering. The closing date is Friday the 10th March 2023.
Apart from receiving great quality books for your tamariki, there are free giveaways.

NZ Dance Challange @school is back
Here is an opportunity for free dance lessons and also to enter a dance competition.
This will be happening in term 1 & 2, however, the time to sign up is limited. Please complete the consent form by 10 February.
Total Touch
Touch Rugby resumes for six weeks in Term 1 at Alex Moore Park, Johnsonville. If your child didn't play last term but is interested in playing this term, please complete this short Google form. Registrations will close on Thursday 9th February at 4:00pm. To guarantee team registrations, parent volunteers are required to help organise the players on game days. Please specify your availability on the form. Your time is much appreciated. Games are played on Monday afternoons with the earliest game starting at 3:35pm. First game is on 20 Feb and will conclude on 27 March. If you have any further questions please email eilis@amesbury.school.nz
Tough Guy Gal Challenge
Consent forms have been emailed to any whānau that expressed an interest in this event last term. For any new interested parties you can view event details by following this link. All consent forms should be completed by Thursday 9th February at 4:00pm. Click here to access the consent form.
Cricket Club
There will be a lunchtime cricket club starting Thursday Week 2 (9th February). All ages are welcome to come along and develop their skills in a social, fun environment. Students must have a hat to take part and be ready on the lower half of the grass pitch by 1:10pm.

Super Summer Sports – Term 1 – Tuesday’s 3.05pm-4.05pm, Starts Tuesday 7 Feb 2023.
Our popular Kelly Sports multi-sport programmes is back in term 1! This weekly programme gives children skills and confidence in a fun and enjoyable environment.
It also encourages their enthusiasm for sport and the life skills that such involvement brings, giving them confidence to join sports clubs and teams in the future.
At Kelly Sports, we encourage kids to have fun, build confidence and give sport a go.
The sports we will be focussing on in term 1 are: Cricket, Dodgeball, Athletics and Ultimate Frisbee.

Leaping Lizards School of Dance
Leaping Lizards School of Dance runs a programme after school in the Amesbury Hall. They offer classes focused on fun and inclusivity for all children, starting from age 2 and running right through to teenagers. These include jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet, tap, and pre-school classes.
