The Principal, Ms Morita and Academic Officer, Ms Fujita stopped in at Amesbury on a whirlwind 3-day visit to New Zealand. We were happy to show them around our school and talk about the differences in our systems of education.
Our visitors commented that schools seem very free in New Zealand, compared to Japan. While we spoke of the great growth that we are experiencing in New Zealand schools, Ms Morita explained the challenges of schooling with the declining population growth in Japan.
A demonstration of ALF was met with great interest as Lesley detailed how Amesbury undertakes personalised learning for all students. We finished with a tour of the school, where Harakeke students were managing a barcamp for Koru and Te Rito students. Our visitors were impressed with the learning energy and self-management our students were demonstrating!
