This celebration and connection gathering includes a range of events, so there is something for everyone! The event will run from 4 - 6pm.
- Mayor Whanau will be kicking off the event by formally opening our beautiful new Pōhutukawa building at 4pm.
- We will then have our cultural celebration happening around the school grounds, with dances, food stalls and activities to celebrate the incredible diversity of our school community.
All funds raised from food sold at the celebration will go towards our school pou. We currently have approx $4,500 raised from our kapa haka festival last year for the pou, and we are keen to keep building on this. A pou is a wooden carving that tells the story of the local area, who we are and where we have come from. (Here is an example of a pou.) Our Amesbury whānau group are working with us to design and create a school pou that that help to tell our story.
- We will also have a bouncy castle out on the field and an ice cream truck (which proved so popular last year) to provide treats for people.
Come along, connect with each other and join in the fun and celebrations. We hope to see you all there.
