All of New Zealand will be in level 4 lockdown for at least three days. This means that Amesbury School will be closed during this time, and all staff and students are to stay at home.
Our teams will meet online on Wednesday and organise some learning activities for Thursday and Friday to be posted on our hub distance learning sites. We appreciate that students do not have their school devices at home with them at this point. As such, learning activities will be posted online, but we will fully understand that families will access these where and when possible, and that access to devices may be difficult for families. The learning will be available but it will not be compulsory.
Your child's whānau teacher will contact you later on Wednesday with an email detailing how you can access learning activities for your child. We ask that you give teachers some time on Wednesday to be able to work together online to organise this. They will then email out learning information. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this. If the lockdown is extended beyond the initial three days, we will look to gain permission for a limited group of staff to access school to allow us to distribute school devices, if this is possible.
The school buildings and grounds are now closed for the next three days. So, for the next three days we ask you and your whānau to stay home, take care and spend some family time together. Together we can all work to keep our whānau and community safe and well.
Any school events that were organised for the next three days, such as our Ministry photo shoot on Wednesday, and our learning celebration on Thursday, will now be postponed. Once we move to the appropriate alert level we will reschedule these events.
Take care and stay safe. Me mahi tahi tātou, mo te oranga o te katoa - we must work together for the wellbeing of all.
Ngā mihi nui,
Urs Cunningham
