What's on this week?

Beach Education - this week

Beach Education starts this week with Years 0-4 participating on different days. Please read the Beach Education article for the timetable and what to bring. (Please name all beachwear, including towels).

Next week will be the turn of Years 5 & 6.

Please note that we desperately need a further two parent volunteers for the Year 6 day on Tuesday 12th December. If you are available to come to Worser Bay between 12:15 and 2:30pm please let Eilís know on eilis@amesbury.school.nz as soon as possible.

Amesbury Athletes Advance to Regional Athletics - this Tuesday

We are very proud and extremely excited for the three young athletes of Amesbury who, on Tuesday, will compete at the Regional Athletics Meet.

A massive congratulations to Ruby, Jade (both year 5) and Shiloh (year 4) who gained one of the top three qualification spots at the recent Inter Zone event at Newtown Park. Each round has been more competitive than the last but these girls have shown their true grit and determination and fabulous abilities to make it to Regionals.

Ruby will run in the 800m race, with Jade and Shiloh both competing in Vortex.

We recognise their outstanding achievements so far and wish them every success on Tuesday 5th December. What amazing role models they are for all our ākonga and please know the entire school is supporting you 100%.

Year 6 Day in Town

The Year 6 Day in Town will be held on Monday 11 December.

Onaitta has put together a list of the day's activities and what they will need. So if you are the parent of a Year student, please read though Onaitta's information.

Co-curricular Lessons in 2024 - New Activities Available

Great news! Now that we have more space in the school - due to the new build - we are now able to offer a wider range of co-curricular lessons in 2024.

What's new?

  • Dance
  • Singing
  • Rhythmic Gymnastics - (not really new but it has been a few years since we were able to offer it)

To find out more details please read here. We are looking into the feasibility of some other activities but if you have any other things that you would like us to consider, please contact John communications@amesbury.school.nz.

Year 6 Citizenship Award 2023

A huge congratulations to our North Wellington Primary Citizenship Award recipient, Seruwaia.

Seruwaia was presented with the award last week at a public ceremony involving all of the local schools.

For details of the award, some photos, and a copy of of her citation presented, please see here.

Learning Celebration

Term 4's Learning Celebration was held last week - The Amesbury Games.

It was a little different because it was held outside - fortunately the weather co-operated - and involved mātua (parents) competing alongside and against tamariki.

If you weren't there - or even if you were and missed some of what happened - get along to Jenny's review of the activities which includes plenty of action shots.

Amesbury Awesomeness Awards

Also last week we had the Term 4 Awesomeness Awards.

To find out who were the recipients and why, please see here.

Thank You, Liping, our Mandarin Language Assistant

This year we have been most fortunate to have Liping with us sharing Mandarin with all the tamariki. So it was with sadness, but the utmost gratefulness, that we said haere rā to her earlier this week as she now heads home again to China.

Kirat has provided a summary of the things that Liping did for us while she was at Amesbury - please read here
