Online Conferences Term 1, 2022

Amesbury School will be holding our first set of conferences for 2022 in the second to last week of this term. This is where we we report on student learning and progress.

Due to the current Omicron outbreak, these conferences will be held online. This means all conferences will be held via video conference, and the meeting will be between parents / caregivers and their child's whānau teacher, as a chance for them to connect. We would also like tamariki to attend these online meetings, where possible. It gives parents and caregivers, tamariki and kaiako (teachers) the chance to discuss their child's progress, their learning levels and social development.

Please read the article with all of the booking information, including how the online conference will work, and who you need to book a conference time with. The article was sent to you via Hero on 18 March and is also included in this week's Amesbury Digest Hero notification.

Movin' March is Underway

We are well through Movin' March and there are still tons of prizes, including a $400 MyRide voucher, for those who participate, and participating is super easy. Simply walk or ride to school to qualify for a passport stamp, which automatically qualifies you the prizes. And, if you live too far away, park and ride also qualifies.

Don't forget there is a photo competition too.

All these prizes for doing something that is healthy for your child and the environment. That's got to be a big win/win.

For all of the details please read Natalie's Movin' March article.

With Movin' March almost upon us this is an opportune time to revive the 'Walking School Bus'.

The Winter Project

Briefly, this is a project by a group of students from Samuel Marsden Collegiate School to coordinates, collect, and distribute winter clothing and blankets to low decile schools with families-in-need across the Wellington region.

We will have a donation box in the reception area at school, which we will use to gather and store any donations prior to handing them over to the girls from Samuel Marsden.

Cards Around The World

A group of year 12 students from Newlands College, who are taking level 2 Economics, will create and sell a product, which will benefit our community as a part of their course. Their product idea is a card game that helps spread cultural awareness (multicultural game).

It would be greatly appreciated if you were able to complete a short survey for them to give them more information about what you think of their idea and to give them feedback.

This is the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/45GY2XrjaaBmi4ye7.
