What's on?

School Photos

Next week, on Tuesday and Thursday (15 & 17 June) we are having our annual school photos taken.

See below for the information about the photos and how to view and order them.

Please note that they won't be available for viewing until around 2 weeks after the photos have been taken. When they are available we will send parents the password needed to view them.

Full Evacuation and Pick Up Drill - Friday 25th June

Please read the article on the Full Evacuation and Pick Up Drill to be held on Friday 25 June as it requires action from parents/caregivers.

Having read it, if you have any further questions please contact Urs: urs@amesbury.school.nz.

Ministry of Education Photo Shoot at Amesbury School

Urs has produced an article on a Ministry of Education Photo Shoot which will take place at school on Monday 21 June.

In the article Urs has set out the parameters of the photo shoot, including the specific consent required from parents. If, having read the article, you do not wish for your child to be involved please contact your child's whānau teacher or Urs (urs@amesbury.school.nz), the latter of whom you can contact with any additional questions.

Urs will also be emailing parents of our no-photo ākonga (students) separately.

Module 1 Inquiry Learning

For those of you that were able to attend the Learning Celebration a few weeks ago you would have seen first hand and been able to interact with tamariki about what they did in module 1 this year.

For those that were unable to attend or want more information please read Demelza's article on Module 1 Inquiry Learning.

As Demelza noted in the article, if you want still more information, please chat to your child/ren as they have a lot of knowledge about what they did.

AGT - Signs Up Close Wednesday 9 June

Just a reminder that sign ups for this year's AGT (Amesbury's Got Talent) close this Wednesday (9 June).

Heats will then be held during the following two weeks with the final being held on Friday 2 July commencing at 5.30pm, so hopefully a large number of whānau can come along, enjoy and support the participants.

I know that Natalie has already received a number of entries but she doesn't want anyone to miss out, nor do the rest of us want to miss you sharing your talent with us.

Term 2 Disco - Thursday 24 June

The school will be holding a disco - in two separate age groups - for all students on Thursday 24 June.

Kalesha, as the organiser, has provided all the information in this article. After reading it, if you have any other questions please feel to contact Kalesha kalesha@amesbury.school.nz.

Community Notices

Community Day at Ngā Manu Nature Reserve - Monday 7 June

A gold coin Community day is Ngā Manu Nature Reserve's way of saying a massive thank you to all their supporters. Pack a picnic and come and enjoy a fun family day out in nature.

You will experience both forest and wetland habitats and our walk-through aviaries and nocturnal house offer close-up encounters with our rare NZ wildlife. Our ‘Bird’s Eye Trail’ gives you the opportunity to view Nga Manu plants through the eyes of birds as you explore our network of all-weather, buggy friendly trails. Or discover our dunes and swamps on the 'Humps and Hollows Trail'.

At 2 pm (rain or shine) watch the Ngā Manu eels being fed – purchase an eel feeding token for $2 to have a go at feeding an eel yourself.

Join our free guided forest walk at 2:15pm - meet at our eel pond after the eel feeding.

Your gold coin donation goes to the non-profit Ngā Manu Trust, which contributes to national and local conservation through its involvement in many species breeding programmes such as for kiwi, tuatara, whio/blue duck, as well as endangered lizard species and plant conservation. Thank you.
