Community Snorkel Day
You are invited to Whitireia Park for a Community Snorkel Day with Greater Wellington Regional Council and Mountains to Sea on Saturday 29 February, starting at 9:30 am.
This year it's all about seaweed! Find out about the numerous benefits and uses of seaweed and how healthy carbon-sequestering marine flora could potentially save the world. Our incredible snorkel guides and marine experts will be on hand to help you every step of the way and make this a day to remember.
New snorkelers are encouraged, but you must be able to swim. Wetsuits, snorkels, flippers, guides and safety gear are provided - just bring your togs, a towel, and sun protection. Please note the minimum age is 8 years, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.
This event is free and you don’t need to book, but it’s important to register to attend on the Facebook page to receive important information and updates. You’ll find details about the free transport options we are offering on there as well. If you’re not on Facebook, you can find the same info on our website.

Kids Self Defence Classes
There are Kids Self Defence classes at the Newlands Community Centre every Monday from 6-6.45pm.
The Krav Maga kid’s self-defence training program is very different to Sports and Traditional Martial Art Systems. In addition to the physical aspects such as striking and dealing with grabs, kids also learn the tactics of a real ‘self-defence’ situation. They understand the different appropriate behaviours and responses when interacting with adults and interacting with other kids in various realistic situations.
Krav Maga involves all the factors required to help your kids be prepared for difficult situations that may arise and any potential self-defence situation. Our instructors have specialised qualifications in training kids of all ages starting at 5 years. These include Instructor Courses specifically designed to ensure they are of the highest calibre to teach your kids the techniques and skills that will work in the real-world.
Fencing Anyone?
Fencing classes for 6+ children run by the Wellington Swords Club.
