Our final day of school is on Thursday 12th December. Children are invited to dress in their own clothes on this last day of school. No uniform is required to be worn.
Final farewell: The day will begin with a farewell celebration in the school hall at 9:10am. This will last for approximately 25 minutes. At this celebration we will sing several songs, present our Amesbury Awesomeness awards for term 4, celebrate our Year 6 Leadership Award recipient for 2019, Charlie Cornish, and farewell our year 6 leavers. We will also say farewell to any students from other year groups who will not be returning next year, and bid a sad farewell to Georgia, who is off on her travels next year.
Water play fun: After our farewell, students will spend a little time in hubs with their whānau groups, and then our water play fun will begin at 10am. Children across the school will be able to choose between a wide range of activities, such as water sprinklers, a slip 'n' slide, water trough play, a paddling pool, and a water gun fight. Please note that the water fight will happen only in a particular boundaried space of the grounds, meaning that children who do not want to be part of this can stay away from that area and not be involved in any way. There will also be a large area dedicated to non-water based activities, such as parachute games, free play and several sports games such as cricket and football.
Children will be able to roam around the different actities as they wish. Children who wish to be part of the water play need to bring togs or clothes they do not mind getting wet, and a towel. We recommend that children bring a change of clothes in their bag, even if they think they won't get involved in the water play, just in case they change their mind!
Lunch will be a little earlier than usual, with the whole school meeting for a picnic lunch in the central courtyard at 11:30am. A sausage sizzle will be running, with all children able to have sausages (including vegetarian and gluten free) and vegetables if they wish to. We do ask children to still bring some lunch to supplement their kai (food) from school, as lots of play can make them hungry! For a dessert treat, lemonade ice blocks will be available for students, if they would like one. No money is needed for the sausages or ice blocks - the school will be providing them free of charge.
School will then close for the year at 12:30pm. Kelly Club will begin at 12:30pm for those children heading to After School Care.
If you have any questions about any of these events, please contact your child's whanau teacher.
We thank you all for your ongoing support for the school; it's been a busy and exciting year and we have all thoroughly enjoyed it. Have a lovely summer break with your whānau and we look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
Warm regards,
The Amesbury team
