What's on this week?
Fundraiser for those impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle
While our area has been virtually spared the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle, unfortunately this cannot be said about large parts of Aotearoa New Zealand as they deal with the devastation causing loss of life, homes and livelihoods.
We are in the fortunate position of being able to help.
At school on Friday (24 February) we will be holding a number of fundraising activities with all of the contributions going directly to the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal. Please read this article to see what is planned and how you can be involved.
Our Kāhui Ako network of schools
Amesbury is part of a Kāhui Ako which covers ten schools within the northern suburbs of Wellington. The Kāhui allows us to work together on shared goals for the betterment of our ākonga (students).
For information as to what the Kāhui Ako is and what it does please take the time to read Urs's Kāhui Ako information.
School Bike Availability at Lunchtimes
We are delighted to have the school bikes fully serviced and ready to be enjoyed by our tamariki again. Our gratitude to the Topp whānau for their time and skills in having all our push bikes safe for use again on our school grounds. The bike shed will be open every lunchtime during Term 1 and will operate on a first come first serve basis. There is a range of bike sizes to suit all our Amesbury ākonga.
Please note:
Students are also welcome to take their own bikes from home if they wish, these can be stored close to the harakeke at the drop off zone (outside reception area) and should be taken home at the end of each school day. The lower courts area can be used for scooters, roller skates etc.
Sharing FoodPlease help us by reminding your child(ren) that food items are not to be shared with their friends at school. It's lovely that students want to share with their peers, particularly when it is a special occasion e.g. birthdays, leaving, cultural celebrations, however, we don't want to set an expectation with students or parents around this practice because, in addition to risks associated with allergies and dietary restrictions, there are just too many students in one hub to make this fair and feasible.

Johnsonville Junior Rugby
Vacancy - Fundraising Administrator @ PADA
PADA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Aotearoa) is a small NGO charity located in Johnsonville. They provide education and training for healthcare providers supporting parents experiencing anxiety or depression due to pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting.
Their current Fundraiser has taken on the role of General Manager which is why now this position has become vacant. It is a part-time position that would fit in well with school hours, giving parents an opportunity to re-enter the workforce but still be available for their tamariki.
Here is the link to the position advertisement. https://pada.nz/turanga-watea-vacancies/.
