What's on?
Learning Celebration & Amesbury Awesomeness Awards
At 1.50pm, this Thursday (19 August) we will be holding out Learning Celebration for Module 2. The focus of this module has been Planet Earth and Beyond. If you would like to refresh your memory, Demelza wrote an article on its progress at the end of last term.
To finish off the inquiry, students completed an ourTime project in groups. Each group chose an area of the learning that they were particularly interested in. They researched this topic further and put their knowledge together in a presentation format to share.
As a part of the Learning Celebration we will also be holding the Amesbury Awesomeness Awards. Who will be the deserving recipients this time? Find out on Thursday.
Ministry of Education Photo Shoot at Amesbury
This Wednesday the Ministry of Education will be sending a photographer to Amesbury to take some photos for their promotional purposes.
Please read Urs's article and note:
If you have any questions about this event, or you do not wish your child to be present in a learning space where photographs are being taken, please contact me (urs@amesbury.school.nz) or your child’s whānau teacher by the end of Monday 16th August.
Community Consultation around our Partnering Document
The Board of Trustees has recently reviewed the school's Community Consultation around our Partnering Document. This policy outlines the responsibilities and expectations of school and home in how we can support our tamariki to thrive at school. The document also looks at the ways we can all ensure that we are working together positively and effectively to create the best outcomes for all of our tamariki.
Urs has prepared this article on the consultation and has included the Community Partnering Document.
Please note in your calendar 6-7pm Tuesday 31st August as a time to come along to review this partnering agreement.
School Attendance in Terms 1 & 2
Research shows that regular school attendance in a child's early year is a critical component in the longevity of school education.
How regularly is your child attending school? Are they consistently arriving on time? You can check this for yourself at the bottom of your child's main learning page on Hero. Urs has also prepared an article providing information around attendance.
Window Designs for the New Building
In our current buildings, you will have noticed a series of white circles on our glass doors as a safety feature.
In our new building, Vanessa Shilston, a former kaiako (teacher) at Amesbury School, along with groups of students, have worked on something different and exciting for these safety features.
Please check these designs out for yourself and provide Urs (urs@amesbury.school.nz) with any feedback that you have.
Year 3 & 4 Camp Preliminary Information
If you have a child in either Year 3 or Year 4 - regardless of which hub they are in, please read this initial information on what is proposed.
The Camp Team would appreciate you completing this Expression of Interest Form by 20 August to assist with their budgeting.
As always, parent help is needed and most appreciated. Please contact Natalie (natalie@amesbury.school.nz) or Zelda (zelda@amesbury.school.nz) if you are interested in helping.
