Annual Book Fair in Term 4, Week 5
Our Annual Book Fair is taking place in Term 4, and also coincide with our Cultural Festival, which enables extended hours giving everyone a more relaxing opportunity to browse though the vast selection of books.
In her Book Fair information article, Kirat has provided details on what is happening together with all the operating times times. Of course, to ensure that everything runs smoothly, she is looking for volunteers to assist. No special abilities required, simply a willingness to give up some of you time. If you can help please email Kirat (kirat@amesbury.school.nz) and let her know.
Y5 and Y6 "Out and about in Wellington"
EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) Week (also known as Camp Week) for our Years 5 & 6 is coming up in Week 8 (Monday 27th November - Friday 1st December) this term.
The tamariki have already made their selections as to what they want to do, however, Gar Kee's article is to provide parents with preliminary information and to ask for parents to help out to ensure that it is a safe and enjoyable experience for those involved. If you are available to help please contact Gar Kee (garkee@amesbury.school.nz).
Beach Education
Just an early notification that our Beach Education Days for this year will take place in early December (Week 9).
Safety around water is essential and our tamariki will spend the day at the beach participating in interactive activities both in and out of the water.
Obviously, our paramount concern is that our tamariki remain safe while they themselves learn about water safety. To this end we need a large number of adults to achieve this - the ratio is 1 to 5. If you can help out please contact Eilís (eilis@amesbury.school.nz) and offer your assistance.
The dates and preliminary information can be found here. As we get nearer to the Beach Ed days we will ask you to complete a consent form for your tamariki.
It's a sunhat term!
Students are required to wear a named Amesbury School sunhat when outside this term - this includes during all breaks and while outside during school time. Children without sun hats will need to stay in the designated shaded areas during break times.
Sunhats are $15.00 and can be purchased via Kindo. Please order in advance so there's time to collect and clearly label before they are needed. You will be emailed when your order is ready to collect. Orders can take up to 24 hours to be processed and any submitted overnight or in the morning before school starts will not be issued or available to collect until after 2.30pm. Advising of contagious illnesses
When informing the school office of an absence due to a student being unwell, please include additional information regarding conditions that are highly contagious.
This helps to track any trends, advise our school community to be on the lookout, and ensures immediate notification to the parents of students who have lowered immune systems due to the treatment of serious medical conditions. In particular, Chicken Pox and Measles can have serious implications, so the sooner families are informed of infectious exposure, the sooner any appropriate treatment can be given to prevent potentially serious complications.
Request for pizza helpers
On average we have about 100 slices of pizza ordered for each hub every Thursday so it's all go - getting the pizza into the bags, dispatching them to the 3 hubs and disposing of the 40 or so boxes. We have a small number of people currently helping but it would be great to have a few more so we have backup when they're unavailable, and so the same people don't need to do it every week.
Generally the times are from 12.20pm to approximately 12.40/50pm.If you're happy for me to add you to the list to help now and again please let me/Rachel know: office@amesbury.school.nz or pop in and visit :-)
