As a part of our current inquiry, trips to Te Papa are underway for all ākonga.

Jemima has provided all of the relevant information here.

On the day of the trip all ākonga will need a packed lunch. If your tamariki have their trip on a Thursday and you have an order in for pizza please do not forget to cancel it at any time prior to the cut off time on the day. You can do this via Kindo > My Orders > Transactions (find the date) > Cancel.

Any orders not cancelled, will still be filled as we are unable to transfer them to a subsequent week. In this case ākonga will need to collect them from the office once they return from the trip or, alternatively, the following day.

  • Pōhutukawa: Tuesday 20 & Thursday 22nd June (parents will be advised closer to the time which day your tamariki will be attending).

Pōhutukawa are preparing for their big move

Early next term is the planned "big move" for Pōhutukawa into the new building.

Apart from everyone being really excited that the move is almost upon us, there are changes that will occur in the use of spaces. Pōhutukawa kaiako and tamariki have been discussing these changes so that everyone is as familiar as possible once the move takes place.

For more details on these changes please have a look at the information article that Urs has put together.

Be Prepared for Winter Muddiness

  • As we move inexorably towards winter, the grassy areas around school are becoming much muddier. We have closed the main sports field for the next few weeks, to allow it time to dry out after the large rainfalls we have had. Once the rain becomes more intermittent and the ground has recovered, we will open it back up.
  • The wetlands area will stay open, as it flourishes when it is wet. This means children can become muddy if they like to play in those areas.
  • If your child is likely to venture into the muddier areas, please provide a spare change of uniform in their bag, as we keep a very limited set of spares in our treatment room and we often run out.
  • We have a range of second hand uniform items for sale in the office - these can make good sets of spare clothing.

** FOR ALL STUDENTS **
Please have spare shorts/track pants/leggings, and underpants in your child's school bag and let them know that they are there for them to get changed into if they have an accident or get wet/muddy at school.

If they don't have a change of clothes, we are currently likely to contact you to make arrangements for some to be brought to school.

ICAS Exams 2023
