New World Club Card Fundraising
If you would like to support our school in funding items that enhance our ākonga learning and play experiences - all at no cost to yourselves - you need look now further.
Amesbury School has entered into partnership with Churton Park New World, whereby they will provide $1 for every $100 you spend. All we are asking you to do is to fill in this form.
In the short time that this partnership has been in place, the school has benefitted by over $2,300 with which we have purchased a Kī-o-Rahi kit and soft play equipment for Koru Hub. With our next round of funding we intend to purchase some outdoor play equipment.
Co-curricular Lessons - begin this Wednesday
If you haven't already signed up for co-curricular lessons please note that they start this Wednesday (5 February) so please sign up now in time for the first class. Simply email John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) and tell him what lessons your tamariki wish to participate in and he will do the rest.
If you know nothing about the lessons please read the Co-curricular Lessons article and also our webpage. Please don't hesitate to email John if you have any questions.
Touch Rugby - Registrations close Sunday
If your tamariki are interested in playing touch rugby this term for a school team please read the info in Rupert's Notice and fill in a registration. Don't dally because registrations close on Sunday 2 February. Coaches are also required if you are in a position to help out.

Your rubbish - our riches
Koru would like bring in some small boxes please: cereal boxes, muesli bar boxes and paper towel tubes are the ideal size.
If you can help out - and provide real meaning to your recycling at the same time - please drop them off in the Karaka (orange carpet) space in Koru Hub. Thanks in advance.
It's a Sunhat Term
Students are required to wear a named Amesbury School sunhat when outside during Terms 1 and 4 - this includes during all breaks and while outside during school time. Sunhats are $15.00 and can be purchased via Kindo - the online school shop. Please order in advance so there's time to collect and clearly label before they are needed. Orders can take up to 24 hours to be processed. Orders submitted overnight and in the morning before school starts will not be issued or available to collect until after 2.30pm. Children without sun hats will need to stay in the designated shaded areas during break times.
We hope you have had a great first week back at school, it was so good to see all of you again.
This coming week's theme is New Zealand Celebration. I hope you are ready for all the fun we have planned - We will be playing football, making a classic kiwi treat - lolly cake - and of course some arts and crafts with clay.

FREE Treasure hunt in Churton Park - 1st & 2nd of FebTo celebrate the Chinese New Year, a treasure hunt has been organised in the Lakewood Reserve and is running during the hours of daylight.
Churton Park Community - Waitangi Day
Conversational English Sessions
Roger Ellis, an Amesbury School Establishment Board member, is be running conversational English sessions (chats) at the Churton Park Community Centre on Wednesdays at 11am-12noon during term time starting Wednesday 5 February.
These sessions are an opportunity to practice English in an informal setting, to ask questions and for participants to learn together. It's ideally suited to anyone for whom English is not their first language. All are welcome.
Onslow Historical Society
If you are interested in a walk down the Bridle Path to Kaiwharawhara and, at the same time, learn some of the history of the area then join the Onslow Historical Society on Waitangi Day.

KAT Theatre Production
The Man Whose Mother Was a Pirate is KAT Theatre’s 25th annual production of a play for families in Khandallah Park."Staid and steady Sam embarks on a madcap adventure when his mother hears the call of the sea again. Singing and interaction encouraged and there will be dance with 4 wheelbarrows!"
