The Big Bike Film Night – Wellington

If you are interested in biking films, here's your golden opportunity to see a wide range of short films.

For detailed information on film content and Wellington dates, have a look through this article.

Proper Wearing of Helmets

With all the biking notices over the last few weeks as well as us having the bike shed open again, and so many students using the school bikes or bringing their own to make the most of the fine weather and the bike track, it is timely to remind everyone of the need to not only wear a helmet but to wear it correctly. Please help us with cycle safety and ensure helmets fit properly:

  • Tighten the dial at the back before adjusting the straps.
  • Use the 2-4-1 method to fit your helmet correctly:
    • 2 fingers between your helmet and eyebrows.
    • 4 fingers in V’s along the straps either side of your ears.
    • 1 (or maybe 2) fingers between the buckle and your chin.
  • It should be snug – but not tight or uncomfortable. You should be able to wiggle your head gently without your helmet moving.

The correct helmet fitting technique is illustrated at the bottom of these notices.

Proper Footwear for PE

A reminder that all tamariki should bring proper sports shoes to school everyday for PE as a Hub, and as the hubs prepare for Cross Country.

Suitable footwear helps to minimise the risk of injury to the feet and ankles. If students wish to wear their Wheelie/Heely's they can change into them for morning tea and lunchtimes.

The Hubs PE days for this term are as follows:

  • Koru - Tuesday & Friday
  • Harakeke - Tuesday & Thursday
  • Pōhutukawa - Friday & Thursday

Pizza Lunchorder Helpers

Do you have up to 30 minutes available around lunchtime on some Thursdays to help with sorting the pizzas for lunch for the tamariki?

Have a look through the info from Rachel and if you can help out please email her (office@amesbury.school.nz) and let her know.

Swimming - Term 2

Swimming will be happening across the whole school in Term 2. As it is part of the school curriculum it is expected that all tamariki will take part.

In order to gather accurate information on your child's swimming ability to date, a form will be sent out via whānau teachers in the coming weeks.

The Amesbury swimming programme will be delivered by EasySwim as before.

Nits & Headlice

Just a reminder that we have cases of nits/head lice in both Harakeke & Koru Hubs.

Please read through this advice to see how to check for it in your whānau and how to treat it if you find any evidence.
