Student Conferences Term 1 2021
We will be holding our first round of student conferences in the final week of this term.
All teachers will be running conferences in the evening (3:30pm onwards) of Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th April. In addition Eilis has an additional block of conferences on Tuesday 13th April.
If you haven't already booked in please refer to the notification that you received from Urs on Friday (19 March) for all of the details.
Easter Raffle Reminder
The prizes are on display in reception if you need added motivation to buy raffle tickets. Kalesha provided you with the information last week together with a few photos of some of the prize gift baskets. All of the money raised goes towards the South Island Camp for the Year 5 & 6 students, which are held every 2 years.
If you would like to assist by buying tickets please purchase them through our school shop.
Art Trip - Weeks 10 & 11
As part of our focus on visual art in Terms 1 & 2, all hubs will have the opportunity to view artworks as well as engage in workshops at Te Papa, City Gallery Wellington/Te Whare Toi and The New Zealand Portrait Gallery.
We are in need of more whānau to assist with the trip - plus you get both an educational and an enjoyable day out. Without additional whānau help we cannot ensure that the trips will go ahead.

Reporting an absence
It is very important that we can verify the safe whereabouts of all our students. Parents/Caregivers are required to notify the school office by 9:00am if children are going to be late or absent from school (this can even be the night before if you know then).
You can notify us, with a reason for absence, by:

Entertainment Book
A reminder that the Entertainment Book now available. However, the Entertainment Book’s changed a bit. In fact, it’s no longer a book at all.

Kelly Club Amesbury Holiday Programme - 6 & 7 April
Kelly Club Amesbury are evaluating the interest in holding a Holiday Programme on 6 & 7 April when the school is closed, being the Tuesday after Easter plus the following day which is a teacher only day.

Kids’ Kaukau Challenge
The ever-popular Khandallah School Kids’ Kaukau Challenge is back.
This 4.6km fun run/walk up to the summit of Mt Kaukau followed by celebrations back on the school grounds is the school's major fundraiser of the year, and the kids love it.

Karori Cemetery Tours for 5+
During the school holidays in April the Friends of Karori Cemetery are offering a tour specially created for children from the age of 5 upwards. Information about the tour as well as booking details are included below.
These tours have been run in previous holidays and the children who participated enjoyed them very much. They loved hearing about Mrs Chippy, the cat that went to the Antarctic, and why we toot in the Hataitai tunnel, as well as the other stories we share with them. At 1.5 hours duration, they are easily manageable by children aged 5 years and over.
Churton Park Garden Group
13 April 7-8.30pm - Churton Park Community Centre
Topic: The science behind propagating plants with Annemarie van de Slot-Verhoevan
The Churton Park Garden Group is an informal community group, open to people with a love of gardening, horticulture and plants, who are interested in finding out more, looking at other people’s gardens, talking about gardens and helping others with their gardens.
Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday evening of the month from 7.00pm – 8.30pm. Each meeting will generally include a speaker on topics of interest to gardeners and local gardening conditions, a plant sales table and raffles. Proceeds are used to support the running of the group, group activities and support for Churton Park Community initiatives. Visitors welcome - $5.

Onslow Junior Football Club
The Onslow Junior Football Club are looking for some extra players for our wonderful Under 7s teams. Kids need to be born in 2014 (or girls born in 2013 can play down a grade). If this sounds like your kid, follow the registration link.
We have a few spaces in existing teams or would need a group of 5 - 7 to create a new team.
Wellington Schools Sailing Regatta
The Wellington Schools Regatta (including a primary schools division) will be held at Paremata Boating Club on Wednesday 14th April 2021, (with a backup day of Thursday 15th April 2021).

Football Morning Holiday Programme
With head coach Gaston who is a "Senior player in the Wellington United Football Team and a Kelly Sports Ref & Coach.
(Yrs. 1–8) Wests Rugby Clubrooms, Wilton (all weather indoor surface).
Children aged between 5 and 12 can come along and improve their technique, knowledge and skills. We will focus on the core skills of control, dribbling, passing, tackling and shooting but MOST importantly having as much FUN as possible!
Week 1 - Tues, Wed, Thurs 9.30am-12.30pm, Week 2 - Tues, Weds, Thurs 9.30am-12.30pm
Netball Holiday Programme
Northland Memorial Hall with Bianca Nagaiya - "currently in the National Netball League for Wellington" & "Former NZ Secondary Schools Player"
Come along and grow your child’s confidence at the Kelly Sports Netball Holiday Programme.
Years 1-4 - Learn the basic fundamentals of netball in a fun and engaging environment. Learn the key skills and understanding of the game, ball handling, co-ordination, speed and accuracy.
Year 5-8 - For those already playing 7-a-side netball and those wanting to get a head start and advance their technical and tactical knowledge of the game.
We use fun drills and games to develop and challenge young players focusing on the key skill areas for their level of development while also having fun!
Week 2 ONLY - Tues, Weds, Thurs 9am-12pm.
Kelly Sports Winter Warm Up Sports
Term 2 (Yrs 0-4) - Fridays 3.05-4.05pm
Kelly Sports will be back in Term 2 with their fun and exciting classes. Come and try Football, Basketball, Netball and Rippa Rugby! It’s a great way to try new sports, learn new skills and improve ability.
We use games & drills to teach game sense and team play. Learn the fundamental skills for all sports – throwing, running, jumping, striking, balance and many more – all while having a great time!

Racketlon
Back by popular demand! Tawa Squash, Tawa Tennis and Wellington North Badminton joint holiday programme initiative.
Players rotate around each sport spending 1.5 hours at each club. Qualified coaches will take each session. Please note, holiday programme is for age 6 years and older.
Where possible we will try to accommodate friendships. Maximum per day is 36 then we will run a waitlist.

Players will be supervised for morning tea and lunch, and walked between each venue.Bring morning tea, lunch, water bottle and raincoat (just in case).
