Let's start off with the best news!

Congratulations to Eilís on her selection in the Australasian team to the Gaelic Games in Ireland next month.

Te Papa Trip - Pōhutukawa this Tuesday & Thursday

As a part of our current inquiry, trips to Te Papa are underway for all ākonga.

Jemima has provided all of the relevant information here.

On the day of the trip all ākonga will need a packed lunch. If your tamariki have their trip on a Thursday and you have an order in for pizza please do not forget to cancel it at any time prior to the cut off time on the day. You can do this via Kindo > My Orders > Transactions (find the date) > Cancel.

Any orders not cancelled, will still be filled as we are unable to transfer them to a subsequent week. In this case ākonga will need to collect them from the office once they return from the trip or, alternatively, the following day.

  • Pōhutukawa: Tuesday 20 & Thursday 22 June (parents have been advised the time which day your tamariki will be attending).

Amesbury’s Got Talent (AGT) 2023 - Finals 2pm this Friday

The heats have taken place, the finalists have been determined, and you are all invited along to the finals in the school hall on Friday 23 June starting at 2pm.

Congratulations to our finalists (Aarush & Ayaan, Kishore, Oliver H & Christopher, Caitlin, Heidi, Kyla, Kiaan & Vedant & George, Nivaan, Greta & Matilda, and Angela (Harakeke).

The immense effort invested in selecting your acts, practising tirelessly, and performing in front of a large audience was clearly noticeable. Ka rawe to all the participants for their unwavering hard work and commendable bravery. It wasn't an easy job for the judges to finally decide on our top 10 for the finals.

For further details please read through Kirat's AGT info.

ICAS Exams 2023 - Registrations close this Friday

This year's ICAS exams are coming up next term, however, registrations are happening this month if you are interested in entering your tamariki.

Learning Celebration - Thursday 29 June

Just a reminder to book this date in your calendar so that you remember to come along and look at the learning our ākonga have been doing this term.

  • Koru: 1.50 - 2.15pm
  • Harakeke/Pōhutukawa: 2.10 - 2.35pm

Students in Koru will be sharing their learning in Kōwhai, Karaka and Kākāriki in Koru Hub.
Students from Harakeke and Pōhutukawa have been working together for some of their inquiry learning this term, and will be spread out across Kikorangi, Māwhero, the Hall, and the Library.

If you would like to take your child home after they have finished their learning celebration (for Koru at 2.15pm, for Harakeke/Pōhutukawa at 2.35pm), you are welcome to do so. You will need to sign them out with the teacher with the roll from each hub.

If your child is booked into Kelly Club, and you take them home after they finish their Learning Celebration, please make sure you inform Kelly Club prior to 3pm.

Pōhutukawa Challenge (see the photo above)

Earlier this week Pōhutukawa undertook an experiment as part of our Inquiry - investigating the impacts of natural disasters.

The challenge was to build a structure that could withstand the shaking of an earthquake as well the side wind from a storm and to find out what building techniques were the most stable. With limited and interesting supplies, it was amazing to see the structures each group made with every group being successful!

Here is a link to a video of techniques we tried to use and
Here is a folder with some pictures.

Swimming Sports - Y0-3 registrations closes this Tuesday

The Amesbury Swimming Sports will be held in Week 1 of Term 3.

The Year 4-6 swimming sports will take place on Tuesday 18 July and the details can be found here and the swimming options here. Please discuss the swimming options with your tamariki prior to them confirming their options next week.

Year 0-3 ākonga have their swimming sports on Thursday 20 July and all of their information can be found here including this form which we need completed by 20 June.

InterZone Cross Country Success

Congratulations to the 6 athletes who represented Amesbury at the InterZone Cross Country. They all did extremely well and we are proud of their performances. Basti & Ruby K achieved top ten placings and will move on to represent the school in the Regional event later this term.

Please read this report on the day's proceedings.

Tough Guy Gal Challenge

We had a large contingent of 24 ākonga compete at the recent Tough Guy Gal Challenge in Wainui. They were all keen to get amongst the mud and water and thoroughly enjoyed their day.

If you wish to read how the day unfolded together with viewing a photo array please click here.

Term Two in Harakeke Hub

If you have tamariki in Harakeke or are simply interested in finding out about the range of maths that they learnt this term, which all tied back to their Inquiry, please read through this summary.

Then come along to the Learning Celebration on Thursday 29 June for the practical demonstrations.

Fusion Food Haus’ promo of a Free Muffin

Fusion Food Haus supplies our Halal friendly lunches on Wednesdays.

This Wednesday (21 June) they are offering a FREE Strawberry/Mix berry muffin. (For those parents who do not want to have free muffin they just make their order per normal and inform Lunchonline accordingly).

Please note that all Fusion Food Haus muffins are nut-free. They also moderate the quantity of sugar so as not to make them overly sweet.
