What's on?

Term 2 Information

You should all have received information from your child's whānau teacher about what's happening in Term 2, however, if you haven't seen it or want to quickly put your hands on it again, here it is.

If you have any questions please contact your child's whānau teacher, just as you would for any queries that you may have in relation to their learning or wellbeing.

Amesbury School Cross Country

The school cross country takes place this Tuesday (4 May), commencing at 11am.

Michelle has put together an article  for the day which I encourage you to read so that your child is prepared and you know what's happening.

If you can, come along, watch and encourage the kids as they participate. I always find it a fun event.

Co-curricular Lessons

Our co-curricular lessons begin this week - Wednesday 5 & Friday 7 May - so if you are interested in your child playing an instrument or taking Speech & Drama, please sign up without delay. To do this simply contact John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) with your lesson preferences.

If you need more information, please see this article and our Co-curricular webpage.

Swimming Lessons

Koru Swimming lessons begin this Thursday and go for 8 weekly lessons.

To find out more, and what the Koru kids need to bring each Thursday please read the following article.

For those in Harakeke & Pōhutukawa Hubs, Michelle sent you out a notification during the holidays that swimming for your children has been cancelled due to the pool being unavailable despite our previously confirmed booking for swimming lessons. We will therefore, unfortunately not be able to go ahead with our swimming lessons, as planned during Term 2.

We are now investigating alternative venues and we will keep you updated on any developments regarding the swimming lessons.

ICAS Exams 2021

If you are interested in participating in the 2021 ICAS Exams please read Urs's article for all the details.

The dates to remember are:

  • Meeting about ICAS (if you haven't participated previously) - 4pm Friday 28 May
  • Registrations close - Friday 25 June

Year 5 & 6 End of Year Activites Week

I know it seems early, but one of the options for this year's end of year camp for Y5 & 6 will take place in the South Island, so planning and fundraising are well underway.

All parents of Y5 & 6 students should have already been sent the initial information article. This includes general information plus a payment timeline and a request for parent help.

Please click on the link to fill in the camp permission form by Friday 14th May (end of Week 2, Term 2). We ask that all parents fill out the camp permission form, even if your child is not planning to attend the camp. This will help us with organising the Year 5 & 6 Activities Week.

Wellington Lantern Festival Competition 2021

Don't forget that voting is now open for your child's entry:

Entertainment Book

A reminder that the Entertainment Book now available. However, the Entertainment Book’s changed a bit. In fact, it’s no longer a book at all.

Instead, what was once the Entertainment Book is now an easy-to-use app that’s updated every few minutes – instead of once a year. That means that you receive even more possibilities to discover, more experiences to unlock, and more rewards to share.

You’ll still get a full 12 months of membership (no matter when you sign up). You’ll have the same great savings you’ve come to expect. And you’ll be able to make the same difference for the causes you care about.

To sign up, please follow this link

Not only do you get tremendous discounts on a wide range of products and services, you are supporting the school at the same time.
