What's on this week?

  • Newlands final orientation day (for enrolled students) - Friday 12 November

Community Consultation - School Charter

If you haven't already done so please take the opportunity provide your input into the School Charter as we determine the future direction of the school.

Links to the article and feedback form are included in the HERO Digest notification.

Calling all Apple Choppers!

As Urs advised in last week's editorial Kavita and Kiwi Community Assist are donating two large boxes of apples every Wednesday until the end of this term.  We have donated apples every Wednesday and we give them out to ākonga after lunch.

However, these apples don't just cut themselves, so we are on the lookout for any volunteers who are willing and able to chop apples for about 45 mins on Wednesdays between 12pm - 1:30. If you are keen to do this, please email Jenny in the office (office@amesbury.school.nz) and she will get you sorted out when you arrive.

Pōhutukawa Hub Walk

Pōhutukawa Hub will be heading out on a walk around our community during our PE block on Monday afternoon. This is to help us prepare for our end of year camp/activities week and to boost our fitness levels.

We will be walking the same route that we did last term, so if you are around, feel free to give us a wave as we walk past!

'Pack the Bus'

Wellington Breeze is once again sponsoring the 'Pack the Bus' donation drive.

'Pack the Bus' is an initiative that supports Wellington City Mission to help families to access food and toys for their tamariki in order to make this Christmas a happy one for all.

Pōhutukawa students will be overseeing this donation drive in the next few weeks. From 15 November there will be a collection point in the office and on 1 December the bus will arrive to pick up all the generous donations for distribution prior to Christmas.

In the 'Pack the Bus' article there is a good guide to the types of donations that would be most suitable. Please look it over so that next time you are out shopping you could pick up one or more of these items which you can bring along to school from 15 November onwards.

NZ Dance Challenge

We will be participating in the NZ Dance Challenge. This is a fun and exciting opportunity for students to learn, perform and share a dance routine along with other NZ schools.

Each school who is participating in the NZ Dance Challenge will learn a routine, record themselves performing this routine and then submit their video. We require your consent for your child to be part of this dance video as it will be uploaded to a site outside of our school. Please complete the consent form by this Friday - 12 November.

For all the details please read Regina's article.

Nits & Head Lice

It's been a while, but we've just had a case reported of a student in Harakeke Hub.

To reduce the chances of it being passed around the school and to other places your family goes please follow the guidelines in the article and check for nits in your family's hair. Thanks.

Lost Property

We haven't had a 'Lost Property' notice for a while. (Most likely because we aren't as efficient with Rachel not here).

Anyway, below are some photos of unnamed property that has been handed in. If you think that it might be yours, please drop into the office and see for yourself.

We are really keen for it all to be returned as soon as possible. If it isn't claimed we will donate it to charity so that someone else will get to enjoy these items.
