Northern Zones Swimming

Ka mahi to the 20 swimmers from Amesbury who represented our kura today (Friday 18 August) at the swimming meet held at the National Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.

Our talented athletes competed in races including the relay, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. There was a great sense of anticipation and nervous energy in the packed arena with athletes keen to make a start on the 48 different events of the day. Groups of eight swimmers filed through the lanes with the hope of securing one of the three qualification positions for InterZones. Each race was timed by individual lane keepers and so the participating schools will soon be notified on who advances to the next stage.

Congratulations to each of the ākonga who took part, especially the Year 4s who attended for the very first time. We are extremely proud of all your hard mahi in qualifying. To see the full list of tamariki who qualified for the Northern Zones please follow this link. **(I will send a photo for you to include by Friday lunchtime)

Gymnastics Programme for PE

A reminder that the scheduled gymnastics programme will commence next week (Week 6) as part of our PE curriculum. Each session will take place in the hall and will be delivered by the team at Easy Move. This will be an amazing opportunity for our tamariki to learn specific skills and develop their confidence whilst using specialised equipment. We are grateful for the professional guidance of Morgan and her team who will support our ākonga's physical development for the eight sessions before the end of Term 3.

The programme will be delivered in 30 minute rotations across the entire school. We ask for the tamariki to be dressed in something appropriate and comfortable for these sessions as they will be moving all body parts. The sessions will run as follows:

  • Week 6 - Monday only
  • Week 7 - Monday & Tuesday
  • Week 8 - Monday only
  • Week 9 - Monday & Tuesday
  • Week 10 - Monday & Tuesday
