Pōhutukawa trip to Carter Observatory

  • Our two year 4 whānau groups will be going on Monday 2nd December.

  • Brydon's and Charlotte's whānau groups will be on the trip on Tuesday 3rd December.

  • Gar Kee's and Rachel's groups will be going on Wednesday 4th December.

All groups will leave school at 9:10am, and will return just before 3pm. Please note that ākonga must be at school by 9am on their trip day, as groups will begin getting on the board just after the school bell at 9am. It is also good to keep in mind that with current road works, it is possible that the groups may return to school a little after 3pm on their trip day.

Ākonga (students) will spend of the day at the Carter Observatory, following their 'The Solar System' programme, and half of the day in the Botanic Gardens and visiting the Cable Car Museum. The programme at the Carter Observatory focuses on the solar system and different ways to interpret representations of planets.

It would be really helpful to have several parent volunteers to come along on the trip and support us. It promises to be lots of fun! If you are able to help, please let Urs know by Wednesday next week (27th Nov) - urs@amesbury.school.nz. The cost of the trip will be $17.50 per ākonga (student). This covers the cost of the Carter Observatory programme for the day, and the cost of bus transport. This cost will be added to your child's Kindo account.

Ngā mihi,

the Amesbury team
