Y1-2 = 1 lap approx. 500m

Y5-6 = 3 laps approx. 1500m
Order of races
First, Year 6 Girls, then Year 6 Boys, Year 5 Girls, Year 5 Boys,
Year 4 Girls, Year 4 Boys, Year 3 Girls, Year 3 Boys
Year 2 Girls, Year 2 Boys, Year 0 & 1 Girls, and finally Year 0 & 1 Boys.
We ask for tamariki to have suitable footwear and a change of clothes to change into afterwards. It is likely that the race course will be wet and muddy so we ask for dry, clean clothes for afterwards.
Traditionally a winter sport, please know that the Cross Country event will go ahead even if it's wet underfoot. If there is an extreme weather forecast for April 29th the postponement date of May 1st will be used instead.
If you would like to help and marshal on the track please let me know via email at rachelhosnell@amesbury.school.nz.
The top five boys and top five girls from each year group progress to either the Yr 4-6 Northern Zone Cross Country event on 13 May, or the Yr 1-3 Junior Invitational event on 20 May.
Cross country is optional, with the alternative being the fun run. Cross country runners can do both events.
Please do not bring dogs to cross country, even on a leash as they cause distractions, the school will be very crowded on the courts, and some children have strong reactions to dogs, even when leashed.
