Our various fundraising events raised $4,000 for the cyclone appeal, which is amazing. By Tuesday this week we had reached $3,960, so several people added in the last wee bit of funding needed to make it an even $4,000. This is amazing and we are really proud of our whole community for getting behind this cause. You all got involved in some way, whether it was sending in baking (we had so many delicious goodies), donating on your child's behalf, ordering sausages for lunch, purchasing second hand uniform on Friday, or giving your tamariki some coins to bring along on the day.
Special thanks must go out to Nic and Trē Love, for their help running the sausage sizzle, and to Jenny Stevens and Belinda Beazer for running the bake sale. Huge thanks as always to our marvellous duo of Gail and Navy, who run everything behind the scenes and have systems and processes so well worked out. And, as always, a massive thank you to Hellers and New World Churton Park for their contributions to the sausage sizzle.
Our fundraising will be split across two of the areas that were hardest hit: $2,000 donated to the Mayoral Relief Fund for Tairāwhiti, and $2,000 to the Hawke's Bay Mayoral Relief Fund. Your fundraising will support people who have lost their homes, belongings and livelihoods, and in some cases their whānau and friends. Thank you so much for being a part of something so valuable.
Me mahi tahi tātou mo te oranga o te katoa - we must work together for the wellbeing of everyone.
Ngā mihi,
The Amesbury team
