The artist who created the 100 metre train mural along Countdown on Moorfield Road, Johnsonville, has been commissioned to work with a group of Amesbury School students to create murals on the two water tanks that are behind Harakeke Hub.
Well known Wellington artist, Sheyne Tuffery, initially worked with students to design the murals, now he is working with students as they paint the design onto the water tanks. We are hoping these murals will form the beginning of an art walk that will meander through the school grounds.
Our next project related to this is to develop some cultural gardens. We would love to hear from ethnic groups in Churton Park who would be interested in designing and developing a garden (or an artwork) that represents their cultural identity in the school grounds. Please do not hesitate to contact Lesley Murrihy if you are interested.
