At the onset of Term 2, we embarked on a fresh and thrilling journey to explore and connect with our broader community. Our first stop was the nearby Churtonleigh Hospital, a rest home nestled in close proximity. This marked the commencement of an adventure filled with anticipation and purpose.
With precise planning and heartfelt enthusiasm, our tamariki coordinated a series of engaging activities to share with the residents. Accompanied by Kirat, our dedicated guide, we ventured into the warm embrace of the Churtonleigh community.
Our interactions were planned with joy and warmth as we explored into various activities. From enchanting storybook readings to harmonious singing sessions, from imparting the intricacies of painting to the delicate art of origami, each moment was infused with creativity and camaraderie.
Meeting residents who had gracefully journeyed through almost a century of life was an awe-inspiring experience. Their wisdom and resilience resonated deeply with us, leaving an indelible impression on our hearts.
As we engaged with the residents, we felt a profound sense of respect emanating from their attentive ears and kind words. Their gracious invitation to return for another visit filled us with gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose.
In our quest to connect with our wider community, the journey to Churtonleigh Hospital served as a reminder of the beauty of human connection and the richness of shared experiences. It was not merely a visit, but a transformative encounter that left an enduring impact on both the residents and ourselves and we wish to continue.
