Not only was the event special for the recipients, we had a few guests for whom it was also very special - their parents.
All the rest of us had no clue who the winners would be as we waited expectantly to find out. When the announcement of the following ākonga recipients were made, they were met with rapturous applause showing that everyone else agreed that there were deserved winners.
