Share and Celebrate Week 6 Term 3

By: Urs Cunningham | Posted Thursday August 29, 2024

Our Share & Celebrate events are a time to acknowledge and celebrate ākonga (students) who have been noticed doing something great. This can be for anything from an act of kindness, to great efforts in learning or taking care of the environment. If you have fabulous things your tamariki have been doing outside of school that you would like to share and celebrate, please email the details to your child's whānau teacher.

Here are the fabulous people who were celebrated this week:

  • Adam, Adaline, John H, Yiqi, Ronan, and Aanya: We are super excited to share that on August 19th an Amesbury School team went to the super competitive Mathswell math competition and won the 3rd place out of the about 60 teams competing!

There were two awards to be won - a cup, and a plate. Amesbury team got 3rd for the cup, which was 3rd overall.

  • Gabriella: Gabriella attended a cheer competition a little while ago and her team finished third place - fantastic effort, well done!

  • Shiloh and Mackenzie: One of our teina in Koru Hub wanted to give you two a ‘shout out’ for collecting his football last Friday.  He was very worried his ball had rolled quite a way down the road but under the supervision of the duty teacher, you were able to retrieve it for him. Ngā mihi kōrua for being awesome tuakana.

  • Reyan, August & Sedna: You are always amazing role models during literacy time. We notice them quietly doing the right thing and showing others how to behave. Thank you for the respect you always show to kaiako, and other ākonga.

  • Talia: You are always diligently tidying and helping organise resources during tidy-up time in literacy. Ka pai Talia!

  • Bayley H: You showed great leadership skills this week during Mandarin class. You quickly gathered your learning materials and went to class with enthusiasm and respect for your teacher, Fei. Your actions were a great example for everyone. Ka pai, Bayley, for being such a positive role model! We were also very impressed with you this week when you showed care for a student who had been hurt. You stayed with them while they were hurt, comforting them and helped them to the office. We were very impressed with your kind heart.

  • Anish: Anish showed great initiative this week when he came across a problem and he knew the best thing to do was to head back into school where people could help him. Great job for being so sensible, Anish!

  • Zayden, Sid and Aiah: Thank you for cleaning the jelly off the top of the slide during lunchtime. When you discovered it, you told the duty teacher and y then cleaned it up. Ka pai!

  • Lika: Lika’s brother lost his book from home. Lika spent a long time searching for it and checking with teachers until she found it in the library. What a kind sister you are!

  • Manashyu: You had your first group singing session and you tried to follow the dance moves. Ka pai!

  • Zion: You have been showing a growth mindset during learning. You are not afraid to make mistakes during learning and when you do, you find ways to fix it. Well done Zion, keep up the good effort.

  • Iyaan: We love how you are making an effort to form your letters correctly during writing. Ka pai for the great effort!

  • Joseph: Joseph, you have been showing a can-do attitude during learning. We can see an improvement in all areas of your learning as a result of that. Ka pai tō mahi, well done for your fabulous work!

  • Saanvi: Saanvi had her first dance performance last Sunday. She has been working hard at practising her dance moves for the past few weeks. Tino pai, Saanvi.

  • Jackson W: You were an awesome tuakana during Mandarin class. You made sure everyone has a turn in playing the game. Well done for taking the initiative to help our teina (younger students).

  • Miesha: Ka rawe Miesha, for your outstanding leadership in organizing your group for the Churtonleigh visit! You ensured that everyone was prepared, and the activities were well-planned, creating a smooth and enjoyable experience for all. Your brilliant idea to bring board games was a hit! The residents truly enjoyed the challenge and have even requested that we get board games for future visits. Your thoughtfulness and initiative made a real difference—tino pai!

  • Andy T: Showing your connectedness during his reading workshops. You are consistently communicating and interacting positively with your reading group, encouraging your peers to read aloud, supporting them with sounding out the words and listening with care when your peers share back ideas. Well done.

  • Kyle, Brandon, Dilan, Hashem, Kiaan, Aryan, Kishore: Your kaiako really enjoyed working with you all at maths time. You were all such great listeners, very thoughtful about the information he shared about maths being a type of communication, and then you worked so hard. Your teacher had to tell you to stop doing maths! Ka rawe koutou!

  • Ike: We want to celebrate your contribution to our hub and your efforts in continuous learning. You see the jobs that need to be done in the hub and use your initiative to complete them and you know what you need to get into the flow of your learning. Keep it up Ike!

  • Ana S: You were very helpful in our Maths workshop, helping three of your peers understand the questions and read the place value chart. Well done.

  • Eliano: You used some great skills to move away from a challenging situation and carry on doing what you were meant to be doing. Ka rawe! You also showed great leadership coming in to Share and Celebrate, being a great role model to your buddy.

Well done to all of our outstanding ākonga who were celebrated and acknowledged this week. Super work leading, focusing, helping and encouraging around our kura, and also achieving fabulous things outside of school as well. Ka pai te mahi, well done.
