This year for our camp, Harakeke Hub got to go to Wellington Zoo for a sleepover and a day trip.
For students who stayed over, either on Wednesday night or Thursday night, were treated to a special night tour of the zoo that went until after it was dark! The tamariki were able to explore the zoo with a ranger and learn lots of neat things about various animals. We also were lucky enough to see the lions up close as it was dusk - their hunting time!
In the morning the sleepover students were able to go out again before the zoo opened to the public! Very fun indeed.
A little bit later we were met at the zoo by the rest of the Hub and got to participate in special workshops run by rangers at the zoo.
We were very lucky to have such beautiful weather for the day trip!
A special thanks to our wonderful parent helpers - these experiences are not possible without your help and support.
