As we arrived at Forest Lakes, the rain had decidedly set in and we began our camp in the hall. Despite the weather on that first day, our Year 5 & 6 students enjoyed a range of indoor and outdoor activities. Over the week, the weather greatly improved and by the time Wednesday rolled around the sun was out in full force.
On Tuesday and Thursday, students enjoyed going around four rotations (each day), including Gladiator, archery, horse riding, kayaking, swimming, orienteering and a nature walk.
On Wednesday, we took a beautiful walk around the lake. This was a real adventure and after 5 minutes some students wanted to turn back. However, we are pleased to say that each student made the 3 hour walk and managed to enjoy a water, and fun, filled afternoon.
The return trip to Wellington was no less of an adventure with the second bus of students waiting an extra couple of hours for a bus to arrive. They were all very patient and instead spent some extra time on the playground and sitting around chatting.
Finally, we would like to thank all the adults who came on camp with us - Mark Dray, Cyril Olsen and Byron Adlam. You were all exceptionally helpful and we appreciated the way you got stuck in, particularly before and after meals. We do hope you have now fully recovered and caught up on any lost sleep.
