Our focus in writing has been language experiences. Each writing cycle starts with an engaging activity that encourages ākonga to share, listen, and explore new vocabulary. The topic of each language experience links to our overarching Inquiry theme. This term we explored the question ‘Who am I?'
In our first experience for the term - Gina shared her passion for cake decorating, Davina gave us an insight into her love for building houses and Hannah showed us what it means to be a curious scientist. After exploring these different ‘red threads', ākonga then wrote about what they were passionate about or recounted their experience exploring one of their teachers’ favourite things.
Following this, all ākonga wrote a piece of writing about who they are. In main group this started with an exploration of adjectives and similes. In Kōwhai, ākonga read the shared story ‘Super Worm’ and described what makes them super and unique. We are looking forward to sharing our learning during the Learning Celebration in Week 10.
