Year 3 and 4 Camp - Term 4, 2017

By: Gail Greenslade | Posted Friday September 29, 2017

Outdoor education provides students opportunities to develop personal and social skills; to become active, safe and skilled in the outdoors; and to develop a passion for outdoor education and the environment. This is our first general information email. In Term 4 closer to the camp, we will email final confirmation details around camp, including a gear list. All camp information will be on the school website under the Year 3/4 tab. All Year 3 students in Koru Hub will officially move over to Harakeke on Monday 27th November (start of Week 7 of term). The camp will then be run on Thursday and Friday at the end of that week. The entire transition week will be a great way for the two year groups to work and learn together to prepare for the following year. Once the students return from camp, all Year 3 students will then stay in Harakeke for the remainder of the school year.

Camp programme- On Thursday morning we will be taking the bus to Palm Grove Camp grounds where we will spend the day completing a range of activities, including orienteering, sports games, using the swimming pool and the water slide. We will then be spending the night in cozy log cabins and waking up to the fresh Kapiti Coast air. After breakfast we will be taking the bus to Ngā Manu Nature Reserve to have morning tea, a walk and  an explore, followed by lunch, then head back to school.

Camp price-  The price of this camp is $100 per person, which  covers the bus travel, accommodation, food (including dinner on day 1, then breakfast and packed lunch on day 2), and entrance to Ngā Manu Nature Reserve.

Payment- Once you have given consent for your child(ren) to attend, the invoice for this camp will be added to your account via the online shop (under “Student Invoices”. Camp fees are due for payment by Friday 10th November.

Permission form- Here is the link to our camp consent form. Please complete this form for your child/ren by Sunday 8th October. We would love parents and caregivers to come and join us for any part of this camp. We will be looking for some additional help with supervision on the day trips, and we will also be grateful for additional help on our overnight stay at Palm Grove - it will be lots of fun! There is a section on the consent form to fill in if you are able to help with any part of the camp. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions about the camp: michael.young@amesbury.school.nz

Warm regards,

The Amesbury Team
