He Tohu is a permanent exhibition at the New Zealand National Library of 3 iconic constitutional documents that shape Aotearoa New Zealand and preserves these powerful taonga for future generations.
The 3 documents are the:
1835 He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni – Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand
1840 Te Tiriti o Waitangi – Treaty of Waitangi
1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition – Te Petihana Whakamana Pōti Wahine
By way of a guided tour, our students took the opportunity to see how these three documents greatly influenced our country. This amazing learning opportunity provided our students with a close and personal encounter with the documents.
Afterwards, they played at the Parliament garden and enjoyed their lunch there. The weather was beautiful! Great thanks to the parent helpers on that day, and hope to see you again!
