By: Urs Cunningham | Posted Thursday October 24, 2024

As part of our inquiry this term about our solar system and beyond, our Kākāriki and Kōwhai groups will be heading to Space Place, at the Carter Observatory in the Botanic Gardens.

Kākāriki group (whānau groups for Aleesha, Hannah and Lily) will be going on Thursday 7th November, and Kōwhai group (whānau groups for Kate, Lauren and Sophia) will be going the following week, on Thursday 14th November. The groups will leave at 9:15am, and will return at approx 2:45pm.

Ākonga (students) will spend of the day at the Carter Observatory, following their 'The World Around Us' programme, and half of the day in the Botanic Gardens and visiting the Cable Car Museum. The programme at the Carter Observatory focuses on exploring how the Earth, sun and moon are connected, and how this creates day and night, seasons and years.

We are seeking several parent volunteers to come along on the trip and support us. It promises to be lots of fun! If you are able to help, please let Amaria know (amaria@amesbury.school.nz). The cost of the trip will be $17.50 per ākonga. This covers the cost of the Carter Observatory programme for the day, and the cost of bus transport. This cost will be added to your child's Kindo account.

Ngā mihi,

the Amesbury team
