On Tuesday 13 September, Amesbury sent five teams to ASB Arena for a Futsal festival. Three teams of Year 1s & 2s and two teams of Year 3s & 4s represented the school. Spirits were high as renditions of Rachel Platten's 'Fight Song', and Katie Perry's 'Roar' were belted out on the journey there.
Every team got stuck into each game, and supported each other when they were on the sideline. The games were self-refereed. The feedback we received included that the students played fair and were caring; they checked on the opposition if they got hurt. Tino pai rawa atu! After nine or ten games, they were well ready to return to school.
Results were not recorded, but we're sure a number of students kept count (especially how many goals they scored!) The students represented the school perfectly and we look forward to returning next year.
Ngā mihi to Monica, Sam, Simon, Nicola, and Zhenyu who encouraged and managed the teams on the day.
Thank you to Amaria and Rupert who accompanied the students from school.
Kind regards,
Rupert
