In our learning we made a lot of links to our inquiry - 'Living as my best self'

Ahakoa he iti he pounamu. | Despite being small, you are of great value.

One way we explored our inquiry was through multiple Visual Arts projects. The first task was to create hand prints and portraits that showed who we were as individuals. Ākonga (students) were able to choose between collage and silhouette art styles to create their pieces that now grace the perimeter of our hall.

Our second piece was a type of weaving art. Ākonga created two watercolour pieces that showed some of their red threads (passions). They then cut their two paintings into strips and then wove them together to create one uniquely individual piece.

The third is a collaborative piece inspired by the bold and bright Kiwiawa style art of our nation. Using paint on canvas, our ākonga have worked to create one piece of a larger artwork that was displayed during the Learning Celebration. We are excited to share their beautiful work with you all!
