Kiwi Hoops Concludes

Each session was fun and age appropriate. With every student having their own ball they were able to practise the skills repeatedly and at their own pace. Luckily the sessions were still able to go ahead indoors on the days where there was rain and high winds. The contingency plan worked well and my thanks to the kaiako of Harakeke and Pōhutukawa who were adaptive and flexible on a week-to-week basis.

During the sessions the children had the opportunity to develop their handling, dribbling and shooting skills through various games and drills each week. Through tailored progressions, the tamariki were able to build up towards free flowing, competitive games. It was great to witness and share the experience of a professional coach guiding and developing our aspiring basketballers, especially on our own school grounds.

Finally, a word of thanks to the Amesbury whānau who were so generous in their donations last year to help fund this programme. The smiles on the faces of the students informs me that the money was very well spent!

Ngā mihi nui,
