From our Tumuaki / Principal

Tēnā koutou,

We are whizzing through the term - how did we get to the last two weeks of term already? It has been a busy and exciting term, with lots of fabulous learning around red threads (your own particular passions or things that bring you joy), being your best self, and living well in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our learning celebration is coming up in a couple of weeks, where ākonga will be sharing some of the things they have been learning about; we hope to see many of you there.

Huge thanks to Ruia for our most recent photos of the new hub building. As you can see from the photos, the new build is coming along and we are getting very excited about moving in for the second half of the year. We have a staff walk through early in Term 2, and we will be able to share more photos after that.

We are currently going through the appointment process for our fifth teacher in Harakeke Hub, replacing Jingwen who left earlier in the term due to health reasons. Once an appointment is confirmed, we will let you know. In the meantime, Kirat and Jenny are doing an absolutely fabulous job sharing this role between them and ensuring the learning and wellbeing needs of our ākonga are being well met.

Open space and recreation consultation

Wellington City Council is currently consulting on its proposal for managing its public open space, recreation facilities and recreation programmes and services over the next 30 years. You can find the draft strategy here. If you would like to share your thoughts with us simply fill in the short consultation survey here to make a submission. The consultation period goes until 5pm Friday 14 April 2023. This is something that will impact all of us, so have your say.

Finally, a quick reminder about the year 4 parent and whānau focus meeting on Monday (27th March). We have had several of these focus meetings for different year groups, and they are a great chance for parents to have an informal chat with me about your hopes for your children and what success for your children at school looks like for you. The discussions we have had so far have been wide ranging and really useful, at least for me! If you have questions about school, or you would like to chat with a group of other year 4 whānau and myself about different aspects of school, come along and have a cup of tea and a chat.

Kia pai tōu whakatā, enjoy your rest.

Ngā mihi nui,

Urs Cunningham
