2023 Whānau Information

All parents should, by now, have received an email from each of your child/rens' whānau teachers with all the information needed to get you started for 2023. If you have not received anything, please contact your child/rens' whānau teacher.

Meet 'n' Greet

We will be holding a meet & greet on Friday this week (3 February) starting at 5pm. We will provide pizza and a sausage sizzle as well as supervision of the tamariki while you attend the short presentations.

It is a great opportunity to come and say hello to the kaiako in your child's team, be introduced to new kaiako joining our school, and find out more about how the hubs will operate this year.

For all the details - including the timing of each hub's presentation - please read this article.

We look forward to having you all come along.

Parent Connection and Involvement 2023

We are continually looking for the most effective ways to connect with our school community and ensure that people can be involved with school life.

Please read through Urs' article which covers different opportunities for parents to be involved and feedback - including focus groups, volunteering and community gatherings.

Co-curricular Lessons

All students who are continuing with their co-curricular lessons in Term 1 have already secured their places by paying their invoices. Particularly with last year's Year 6s having left we have spaces available in all of our lessons, although some are limited and we have a first come - first served policy.

If you know nothing about the lessons please read the Co-curricular Lessons article and also our webpage. Please email John (communications@amesbury.school.nz) if you have any questions or you wish to sign your child up. It really is as easy as that.

NZ Dance Challange @school is back

Here is an opportunity for free dance lessons and also to enter a dance competition.

This will be happening in term 1 & 2, however, the time to sign up is limited. Please complete the consent form by 10 February.

It's a Sunhat Term

Students are required to wear a named Amesbury School sunhat when outside during Terms 1 and 4 - this includes during all breaks and while outside during school time. Sunhats are $15.00 and can be purchased via Kindo - the online school shop. Please order in advance so there's time to collect and clearly label before they are needed. Orders can take up to 24 hours to be processed. Orders submitted overnight and in the morning before school starts will not be issued or available to collect until after 2.30pm. Children without sun hats will need to stay in the designated shaded areas during break times.

Advising of contagious illnesses

When informing the school office of an absence due to a student being unwell, please include additional information regarding conditions that are highly contagious. This helps to track any trends, advise our school community to be on the lookout, and ensures immediate notification to the parents of a student who has a lowered immune system due to the treatment of a chronic medical condition. In particular, Chicken Pox and Measles can have serious implications for this student, so the sooner the child's family is informed of infectious exposure (Amesbury students or their siblings), the sooner they can get the appropriate treatment to prevent potentially serious complications.

Super Summer Sports – Term 1 – Tuesday’s 3.05pm-4.05pm, Starts Tuesday 7 Feb 2023.

Our popular Kelly Sports multi-sport programmes is back in term 1! This weekly programme gives children skills and confidence in a fun and enjoyable environment.

It also encourages their enthusiasm for sport and the life skills that such involvement brings, giving them confidence to join sports clubs and teams in the future.

At Kelly Sports, we encourage kids to have fun, build confidence and give sport a go.

The sports we will be focussing on in term 1 are: Cricket, Dodgeball, Athletics and Ultimate Frisbee.
