On Thursday 25th of August Amesbury hosted 12 other schools at our annual junior cross country event. Having had to postpone the event from Term 2 due to unsuitable weather, it was fantastic to finally see smiles on the faces of over 300 runners. We had a beautiful sunny day with hardly any wind, which made an awesome day for everyone involved.
The track was lined with supporters who cheered and congratulated the runners as they made their way around the track. A huge well done to everyone on their amazing efforts.
We were fortunate to enjoy a delicious sausage afterwards thanks to the parent volunteers. Ngā mihi to Greig, Jenny, Jack and Rachel who delivered a very smooth sausage sizzle. All profits will go towards the Pōhutukawa camp trip in Term 4.
A special shoutout to our amazing emerging Y6 leaders who helped guide the visiting students on the day. Their tasks included doing a guided walkthrough of the track, conducting a warm and running ahead of the athletes in the race. I received many positive comments in the feedback on how diligent and welcoming you all were. Well done to Alex, Briona, Kartik, Lucia, Shiloh, Jayden & Amaira.
Special congratulations to our Amesbury ākonga who represented our school so well on the day.
