Senior Athletics Day - Tuesday 27 September - more help still needed

Our Athletics Day for all Year 3-6 ākonga will take place on Tuesday (27 September) - rain or shine. Please note that this is an amended date due to the Public Holiday on Monday.

Eilís, our Sports Coordinator, has provided the important information you need for the day including times and what to bring. Please note that all ākonga are asked to be at school not later than 8.45am so that there are no delays to the proposed departure time.

We welcome parents to come along and show their support to the competing athletes. If you are planning to come along, please contact Eilís (eilis@amesbury.school.nz) and offer to help out at the events. As a bonus, if you want, Eilís will ensure that you are at each event that your tamariki are competing in. Talk about having the best seat in the house!

Amesbury School Board of Trustees Meeting

The next Amesbury School Board of Trustees meeting will be held this Wednesday (28 September). This will be an online meeting due to student conferences being held that day.

Here is the link to the agenda for the meeting

Amesbury Awesomeness Awards

This term's Amesbury Awards will be held on the last day of term. As always we are excited to find out who it will be and we will share the recipients with the school community in a future article.

Unfortunately, it will be a ākonga (student) & kaiako (teacher) event only.

Poetry Writing Competition

The Inaugural Churton Park Poetry Writing Competition is happening.

Tamariki, from both Amesbury & Churton Park Schools, are invited to submit their poems - on any subject - by 5pm on Wednesday 26th October.

The winners will be announced at an event at the Churton Park Community Centre (Kea Hall) on Friday 11th November from 5:45 - 6:45pm.

To help tamariki get started there is a workshop, at Amesbury School, from 9am - 12pm on Friday 7th October.

Let your creativity flow.

InterZone Swimming

Amesbury Kura are very proud of our mighty tāne who competed in the InterZone Swimming event on Thursday.

Yiqi (Y4) and Jiya (Y5) represented the Northern Zone region and put in stellar performances on the day.

  • Yiqi secured 4th position in the 25m butterfly and 8th in the 25m breaststroke. Ka pai Yiqi!
  • Jiya finished the day with five 1st place finishes - a repeat of his Northern Zone results!

Awesome work boys and many congratulations on your great achievements. A few photos at the bottom of these notices.

Tennis Tournament

It was a big sporting week and big congratulations to Jiya (Y5) who competed in the 2022 Wellington & Kapi Mana Primary Schools Tennis Tournament this week.

Jiya, who was playing in the Y6 grade, made it through to the third round where he narrowly missed out to the eventual winner. We are proud of his efforts and Jiya looks forward to competing in the same grade again next year. Koia kei a koe!

Amesbury Cultural Showcase 2022

Here is a great opportunity for you to come along to our 2022 Cultural Showcase which will be held early next term - Tuesday 25 & Thursday 27 October. What's it all about? Please follow this link where Onaitta & Angela have provided all you need to know.

It will be an awesome opportunity to see what our tamariki have been working on in their current inquiry, however, there is one catch - there are limited numbers that are able to attend. So, my suggestion, get in early and complete this expression of interest form to secure your place. These close on Tuesday 18 October.
