What's on this week?

Amesbury Speech Competition 2022

Heats will be held this Thursday (1 September) at lunchtime (1pm) in various classrooms.

ākonga will be told where their heats will be held, but if parents need to, they can email Natalie (natalie@amesbury.school.nz) for the details.

There is a large list of participants and the top three in each of the four age groups will proceed to the finals.

St Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival - Helpers Required

As previously advised Amesbury, led by Amaria, is organising the St Brigid's Kapa Haka Festival this year.

This is a major undertaking with over 1000 people expected to be in attendance. No surprise then that we need many volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the event. We sincerely thank those that have already put their name forward but we still need many more.

If you can help out for even a small part of the day, please fill out this form.

The St Brigid's Annual Kapa Haka Festival is being organised this year by Amesbury and will be held at Onslow College given the large numbers that will be participating.

Apart from general assistance with setting up etc., we are using it as an opportunity to raise as much money as we can to commission someone to design and make Pou for the new building at Amesbury School which is to everyone's benefit.

Touch Rugby - Registrations Open

Amesbury is looking to enter some teams in the Touch Rugby competition to be held next term at Alex Moore Park.

The focus is on fundamentals, participation and fun for all of our girls & boys who sign up.

Additionally, we are looking for some keen parents as coaches & helpers to provide assistance to enhance the ākonga enjoyment.

Registrations close on Friday (2 September). Please follow this link to register your child(ren).

FREE lunchtime ‘have a go’ tennis session

If you child is interested in having a go at tennis, then there is a free lunchtime session at Amesbury on Tuesday 6 September.

To take part please complete this form by Sunday (4 September).

Senior Athletics - Save the Date

A heads up about the Senior Athletics Day at Newtown Park on Monday 26 September. Eilis has provided preliminary information on the day.

It's a big day out for all of our Y3-6 ākonga and we'd love for you to join us - whether as spectators or to help with the smooth running of events. If you are able to help out please email Eilis eilis@amesbury.school.nz. Thanks.
